Geo data can be processed in the Semantic Web for quite some time now. Early implementation with RDQL and dedicated spatial access methods have been successfully deployed since 2002 as extensions to the Jena project. But since 2009 access is available within the SPARQL query language processor ARQ has been integrated and optimized with suitable dedicated Spatial Index technologies.
Since the summer of 2013 another now improved version is available with optimized file system access that comes under the Apache License.

In particular, the development, installation and operation of Jena Spatial will be discussed at this Meetup.
